shmeltz,

have you ever used glow in the dark jigs?  i have ok success in NH on winnipesaukee with bucktails tipped with bait.  choice of bait never seems to matter (cut perch, old shiners, old suckers,...).  have had better luck recently with the cusk traps over the jig though.

When I jig for burbot, I use a plain glow jighead with a piece of glow plastic and half a minnow.  Burbot fishing is a lot of fun.

I've used the Northland Airplane jigs (Green glow) tipped with smelt or shiner and have had much success... I love it... got the itch for ice fishing in '07!!!!!!

What soft bodied glow jigs are folks referring to?  Very interested.

find a big swedish pimple or a gold lead fish with like dead shiners or dead smelts and just bounce right off botom they will and willsee whats stirring up the bottom or set a regular trap with a dead sucker or smelt right on bottom thats how ive had my success
FLAG! haha just kidding

I went down to the sporting goods store and got a new rod and reel for my wife.....pretty good trade, don't ya think?

Ketchup and grease instead of catch and release

Glow Glow Glow
I was nailing them last year on a little perch glow
they would hit nothing but that
eventually one straightened the hook out on me

I just made an awesomely glowy burbot jig. I took a lindy max gap jig head in 3/8 size because they glow the best out of most jigs i tried and then i got some hoochie skirts (the kind used for salmon) that glow. i cut the tentacles off about 2 or 3 inches long and tied them onto the jig head. this thing glows like theres no tommorow and holds its glow really well.

my favorite in the day would have to be a red devil with a minnow bounce it on the bottom and stir up the mud then lift it and jig it softly about 3" off the ground
