Thermal Cap Canvas vs. Jason Mitchell Full Insulated
« on: Nov 10, 2017, 04:49 PM »
Have the choice on a replacement canvas.... which one would you go with for a one man. Is the fully insulated that much heavier? is there any drawbacks to fully insulated? Are they equally dark on the inside (block out the sun)?

Not too familiar with both of these, been out of the shanty game for a while and just using what I had.

Thanks,
Steve

Go with the fully insulated. It's not much heavier. No condensation will form, it retains the heat, and is more quiet. There really is no benifit of going non thermal except maybe the price.

I agree with going fully insulated, just having an insulated roof is like a patching one hole in a flat tire in my opinion.  Yeah it helps keep from loosing heat through the roof and helps a little to prevent condensation but that still leaves four sides to the cold in to make condensation.

go with the fully insulated one. the weight difference is minimum and the full thermal will use less propane to heat so with that saving you can off set the price difference between the thermal cap and a full thermal in a short time.

Ordered the full thermal. Should be here in a couple days. Just saw that the asked is a bit thin in a couple spots... Going to try to find some thin hdpe and install it as runners covering the thin spots.
