Small Diameter Skimmer/Dipper/Scoop
« on: Feb 23, 2009, 06:23 AM »
I am having trouble finding a small diameter skimmer to use with my 4.5" Nils. Any suggestions on places to buy one online? Thanks.

Or even from my Wife's utensil drawer...

"No, Hunny I didn't see your spoon anywhere, did you check the dishwasher?"  ;D

I've been using a 4" round 'holy' spoon for m-a-n-y years even though I drill 10" holes. I use a full sized skimmer for initial setup then keep the holes clean with the smaller spoon that stays either  in the hammer slot (spoon up) on the leg of my coveralls or in a back pocket (spoon down). It's ALWAYS there when you chase a flag and can also be used to take bait from your bucket after your net freezes against the side...

I went with the larger serving spoons quite a few years ago after I lost countless skimmers either down the hole or fell off the sled from the trip across the ice. These are usually around $1.00 or less. The only time I use a regular skimmer is if I get one for a gift. I still carry the spoons as a backup for when I lose my current skimmer.
