All I know is that an ice anchor "opened up" a bit at the bottom allows ya to slide the hose in and holds it up off the ice. No muss, no fuss.
I suspect the only reason they put the propane gas line hole in shanties now a days, is to get people to sit on here and debate if they should put them there or not! I would assume there are those out there that think they are a great idea and use them faithfully. Then there are those who don't use them at all. Then of coarse, there are those who just have to ask why?
Nah...all what the shanty needs is a weather vane with a pinwheel. So that it's mechanically engineered to connect through the top hub and it powers a ceiling fan to keep the air flow going.
