when is the best time to icefish for rainbow trout?

First week of June ;D

But since this is an icefishing site.....I have my best luck thru ice about 2-3 weeks after ice-up....so early december here.

I don't claim to be an expert but I would say ,based on what I have read and experienced for myself, early ice is the best time to fish for bows. As I understand it,  they are very sensitive to the dissolved oxygen levels and once they ice covers  and more time passes the water you get less O2 levels in the water.
