From the ice conditions I've found and heard of your best bet to use that bait is to break out a soft water rod and hit the open water.

I would love to have a bucket of bait like that.   I had about 10 chubs left and a few xl shiners that were gonna help me find a walleye this weekend but they did not make it.  I was in the basement and smelled something pretty bad and went and checked them and that is when I realized that either the cat or dog pulled the air line off the aeration unit.
