Title: Red Feather report
Post by: Sawtooth on Dec 15, 2013, 07:21 PM
I just wanted to wet a line briefly today w/o burning a whole tank of gas.  Drove up to Red Feather area to see what conditions were like.

Plenty of people on the ice when I got to Dowdy at 1 pm.  Also saw two cars at West as I came past.  Ice about 10", but I could see some refrozen holes with refrozen monster cracks radiating out from them, suggesting to me that some folks were out there many weeks ago when the ice was pretty thin.

In a few hours I caught probably a dozen small browns and rainbows (8-10").  Fun just to get the pole bending, anyway.  I left at 3:30 when people's chairs  and buckets started blowing across the lake.  Take creepers if you go.  Not much snow anywhere on the lake and very slick.  I did get stuck coming out of the first parking lot with my poor tires and two-wheel drive. Glad I had chains or I'd still be there.
