I had something I wanted to run by everyone. When I created and ran the IS Online Tourney as the judge I couldn't do any entries myself .. I was the one scoring the entries. Last season I did the same for ISNJ.
I thought in this ISNJ tourney I could post entries as well but have another moderator, ShawnM, score mine. This way it's all legit and I can take part.
If you like or dislike this idea speak up.

I don't see a problem with that Doug. Maybe you NJ Mods could take turns judging the ISNJ tourney that way everybody can participate.

Some suggestions for the Tournament lake, Mt. Hope Pond, Green Turtle Pond, Wawayanda.
Hey Doitnow, I think you might be confusing the tourney with the get together. For the tourney, you can fish wherever the heck you want! Lengths are taken, as well as photographic proof, and then you submit it to the tourney thread.

If your name appears above then you need to add NJ or New Jersey to your location. Otherwise, you won't be able to participate in the tourney if I understand Lonewolf's instructions correctly.
I would likely need to do the same if I was signing up but I'm passing. To much work to carry around that placard then get it out everytime to take a pic. Then come home and post, then watch the boards for standings, etc........ I'll do those things without the placard (and if it gets wet and you can't read it and you got the big one that day.....screwed and all that work for nothing) and no pressure. Then I'll post if I want and decide when and where to post. Basically, an old fuddy duddy.

hey quick question? i am trying to print the tourney card for this year and i cant get a full page of the card when i hit the print icon at the top right of the post. i can print the page that i am veiwing from the post on ice shanty web site but it comes out small. like maybe 3 x 5 small. when i hit the print icon it brings me to bing and a bunch of results that are not the card. help please i dont know if i should blow it up or just go with it. i dont want to miss out if i get a nice size fish. thanks

I copy and pasted the card into a word document. From there you can make it as big or small as you'd like.

packing tape works well! Lay the paper flat and tape over it. Flip it over and repeat. Trim off excess

Congrats to saxmatt for the first entry! I had a 9 and a half inch gill I caught yesterday but forgot to get a picture of me holding it before she got cut up. Oh well!

Likewise. I'd have a few "trophy board" entries on the main tourney in 2 different species if it would have started two weeks ago!

Maybe we can do a season long tourney next year with the tourney starting in November. I've had the best luck first ice especially for pike. 5 or 6 years ago I got a 41" pike on Thanksgiving, got out on November 23rd that year.

I just finished checking the entries and updating the leaders board. I'm doing my best to not DQ any pictures.
When taking the pictures bend over, squat down, etc.. get closer to the fish .. especially when it's a sunny or crappie. When enlarging the pictures to get accurate measurements everything gets distorted the more I have to enlarge. Obviously on a large fish you can only get so close but even in that case get as close as possible.

Thanks for the tips Doug. I noticed that on black ice the tail fin tends to blend into the background. I think the next time I'm going to scuff up the ice a bit before I take the picture of the fish.

This season I decided to make a change.
I'll be making certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. ;)

Since the pickerel I entered is in the IS Online Tourney as well we'll go by TinyTims measurement.

How does the short cat. work? Does it just qualify you for the drawing?

In the main tournament if your entry doesn't challenge the leaders board you post it in the short area. By posting in the short area you are in the weekly drawings.
I put a short area under the NJ tournament so you could still post your fish pictures.

By the way I apologize for updating the leaders board so late. Been busy with the snow storms, shoveling, working on the snow blower and now an ice damn. :%$#!:

The leaders board has been updated and shows the final results.

I've only received the info/pics from 4 winners as of now.
I had a thought regarding the certificates.
If I can get all or most of the info by tonight/tomorrow I could work Friday and Saturday on them and give them out at the Waywayanda Get Together on Sunday. ;)
As of now there is a lack of interest in the 2nd get together and I'll most likely have to cancel. :o
If you want to get the certificate at the get together sign up. :)

Since many of you are hitting the ice tomorrow I thought I would make it early and centrally located.

I don't want to leave them with a third party as that didn't work out well.
I'm thinking in a week or two have a Sat or Sun meet to give them out. This way it's between ice out and open water .. a slow time.
