Is that limited to one perticular lake ?
Because results could be different in other bodies of water ;)

i would have to say all bodys. because out of the 3 lakes that i fish i pound them on these 3 jigs all the time and have numbers of these jigs in case brake offs. my brother fishes all over the lake george area and me in the finger lakes and we use the same thing and both do really well. so yes

for soft water I use a one ounce bucktail jig tipped with minnow, I don't see why it wouldn't work for ice sized down a bit. I bought some bleeding white tube jigs I am going to try, as well as green. I would think the pimple has to be up there. Some of the names I dont recognize, post some pics!

1 - Buzzbombs
2 - White Tubes
3 - Swedish Pimples
I've bought a couple of new spoons, the are called "Deadly Dicks" spoons and I think after this years field tests, they may make it into the top 3.

The Upfold Bucktail Jig with stinger hook. This jig has caught more lakers on Otsego Lake than any other jig in the past two seasons.

I tried one of those that the dude sold me in the parking lot. they look good, really good actually but they are not panacea for lakers there that I hoped they would be, head to head, the right spoons in the correct colors still out fish them.

1. White Tube (4" with 1/2oz head)

Although all those color patterns are very impressive, they catch more fishermen browsing the racks than fish. Do you really think that with a foot of ice and a foot of snow and 100' of water color really matters? I do think that a soft bait on a heavy head works very well with finicky fish. I also like nice heavy metal jigs like pimples, leadfish, deadly dicks, etc that jingle a bit.....

i've seen it where color made a big difference in 180FOW under a foot of snow...although 90% of the time, color doens't matter to a lake trout at all as long as he can see the offering good enough to line it up into his mouth. ;D

Yeah, I think alot is sound and smell versus sight feeding. Silly humans we are.... underestimate the latteral line/complex and a fish's sniffa....

What do you guys do with them after you catch them...they sure ain't to tasty  Do you guys burp them and hope they survive ???

99% of the lakers I catch I don't even touch, I have the leatherman ready, unhook them in the hole, and they all swim away very quickly, sometimes so quick i get a cold shower from their tails!
I do keep a few smelt-fed lakers every year, if you trim all the dark meat (fat) off the fillets, they are pretty darn tasty.
Now those alewive (shad, sawbelly, etc) fed lake trout all get released, they do taste nasty

Rapalas.Pimples. and did I say Rapalas? Buzz Bombs work pretty good also.
