Yeah, you can ice fish it, but no tipups are allowed, so jigging only.  Any trout caught out of season have to be released.  Perch, smelt, pike, bass, and trout can all be caught here.  Huge lake....limited access.

Been cold a couple days up here in Cranberry Lake, probably 30 mins from Tupper. We have just a skim of ice on some of the bays...nothing to really talk about yet. Hopefully it's on the way for Jan 5/6 for the Pro Am Series event.

I love how everyone calls upstate, ny everything above albany area it really gets me.

Anyone coming up cranberry way give me a shout, usually on the lake every weekend and sometimes throughout the week. come by and enjoy the fire in my nice shanty and tell some stories!!

I always thought the "North Country" was an imaginary line drawn across the top half of the state, just south of Boonville. :)  As far as "Upstate" goes, I work in the Hudson Valley, and those people think anything north of Yonkers is "Upstate"!  :P

I live outside Syracuse in the hills...that being said, I worked in the Florida Keys and Puget Sound(Seattle area) and when asked where I was from, I would reply New York. They would automatically say, "how can you live in that city"...I would just shake my head :cookoo:

As a C-State grad, I know your pain.  Having to listen to Long Island folk state that everything north of the city/westchester is upstate got annoying.  To them, they figured I was Canadian.

Try explaining where Rochester is. I gave up years ago and just say I am from Buffalo. As a kid growing up on the Island, anything north of the Bronx was considered "upstate". These days, "the city" has moved north a bit and everything north of Westchester county is upstate.

People down here always ask we're I'm from bc I sound a little different I guess.  When I say I'm from New York they always say you don't sound like your from NYC. Not gun lie I take it as an insult.

I've been out west a few times, what they know about New York is what is on the news,  New York City and the snow in Buffalo.
