State park is best bet for Kring Point/Goose Bay, and drive into the state park for Eel Bay, follow the road around and make a left, you'll be parked within 50 feet of the ice.

On a weekend, if you get there EARLY you'll be 50 fifty from the launch. I drove by there on Sunday around 3 to see how many were out and there were cars allllll over.  I suggest that you get there early and stake out your area... You'll be joined by anglers from all over NY.

If your fishing for pike, bring lots of pike bait if you go to eel. The perch will be hittin it and you'll have flags like crazy. Maybe put on some trailer's so the perch won't strip your bait and you'll be able to land some over hungry perch with big eyes and small stomachs.  When I have been there this year, people were closer to shore... A few hundred yards out.

What body of water would be best for a assortment of perch pike and waldos. Dont need to be slobs just would like a decent size and decent number. I dont need someone place just the best overall and safe body of water. Any info would be great pm me for discretion if needed. Thanks guys. Also will need a baitshop.

Hey I've got a question for you seeing your from up that way . Why don't I ever hear anything about Cranberry Lake . As I remember when I use to ride up that way I don't recall seeing any shacks on it . Is it a dead zone in the winter ? Seems like a nice body of water and pretty big.
It's not how many breaths you take, but rather what takes your breath away that counts.

That's a tough lake to fish in the winter. lots of bays, points, shoals, inlets, etc.  If you go, use transportation to get where you need to because 3/4 of the lake is surrounded by forest preserve!.  I would try Dead creek flow first.  ;)

They just opened Cranberry to ice fishing a few years ago as I recall(could be wrong). I have had decent luck on the lake during both hard and soft water seasons.

You definitely need transportation. No question. It's friggon huge. I've put in 2 days there this year and snagged 11 slimers, missed a couple others. It's super shallow and lots of structure. Get to the flag quick.. I've had THREE fish run me into snags and I had to break off. (lot of stumps...lots)

There's ice at Perch Lake (Watertown) and the Alexbay area (Lake of the Isles and Eel Bay) and most of the bay going north from there.  I know them well enough to give direction. just reading on here about where folks are fishing lately.

I think they opened it in 2003 when i was at the Ranger School. Might be wrong about that this aging 29 year old brain of mine is starting to get rusty

you are correct.
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in northern New York
