I fish for pike all over the north east, every place I go seems to have a wide range of popular hook up. just wondering what everyones favorite pike hooks are? and why?

I use a Gamakatsu treble the matches the size of the bait I am using.  Fishing suckers or big shiners I use a #2 EWG treble.  My standard set-up is a #4 red Gamakatsu. I think the most important thing is making sure you have a sharp hook!

a sharp number 8 or 6 treble hook and a 5 inch black steel leader. A sinker to hold down the minnow.

I like quick strike rigs. (which I tie myself)

#8 to #10 for pike and smaller trebles for Walleye and Trout.

 I'm kind of particular to those myself although this year I haven't been able to get any smelt big enough to thread on one of those babys... Combine that rig with a wind-jigging tip-up and you have the most deadly pike setup there is.

#8 treble hooks seem to be popular, I just wonder if they are strong enough for big pike(over 15#), also are they used solo or tandem like a quick strike rig?

Dual treble quick strike rig. Hook sizes 6-10. Lost very few fish once the hook was set.

they are made so wind or even a slite breeze makes them jig

2/0 Circle Hooks.  I do not keep the Pike I just like catching them.  After years of cutting off trebles inside a fish and then returning them to the water wondering if they will live I started using a single Circle hook.  Works great.  Just hold the line during the 2nd run and let the fish tighten the line.  Just a light pull and the hook slides out of the gullett with out catching and runs right across the corner of the mouth where it hooks them in the "Hinge" of the jaw every time.  Holds really well and the hook comes out with ease allowing them to go back in the water and live to pull on another fishermans line someday.

I like using Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp there blue colored and there super sticky they are so sharp i had one stuck in my hand and never even realized it until i looked at my and a little while later.

   I've recently started to use a variety of circle hooks and have had great hook-ups, and almost no pop outs.

i have seen fish that have lived after having the hook cut off, it is not a myth...the thing is u have to make the decision right away, not after you fight the hook for 5 minutes then decide it wont come out
