Any current ice conditions and fishing updates would be much appreciated, heading there for 4 days next weekend.

Just got back today.  Ice is 6-10 On the boardman with a little snow cover.  Fishing very slow.  A couple crappie and 2small walleye.   No one else on the lake the last 2 days.

Haven’t fished Merritt but the lakes around the refuge are brutal fishing right now.   Have to earn them for sure.

How’s the ice holding up on Merritt and the refuge lakes with these warm temperatures?

The lakes in the area last I fished em... had about 12 inches of hard ice.

Fished the snake Friday. 13+ inches of ice. Caught quite a few smaller crappie with a few nicer ones mixed in. About half a dozen nice perch too.

Hankla's post was from awhile ago.

17 - 20 inches of ice on the boardman and snake. Crappie bite was slow most of the day. A lot of lookers with nothing better to do than make a guy look like a fool staring at the vex waiting for something to happen. Keep cutting and you will eventually find a feed zone of active fish. Some quality crappie and cats when you get there.
