whitefish on tip ups?

we got a big one up into the hole, but he spit the hook...id guess he was about 5lbs...on a glow jig with a 4" smelt.

anyone ever catch whiteys on such a big rig?

I haven't ever caught them on anything that big, but I can't say that I've targeted them with large baits before also....

sz.4 hook w/ a 4-5in. smelt. more hookups w/ a pinose and a sz. 6 though. easier for them to swallow.
