gull fly larvae
« on: Dec 12, 2008, 07:59 PM »
 Hi,
I am fairly new here i am in Grand Rapids. I was wondering if anyone has ever
used gull fly larvae from the goldenrod plant as fishing bait. they are very plentiful
and free.

Yes they work well and stay on the hook for several fish! ;)

Yep, they work good. A little small though. They stay on the hook well, kind of like a corn bore.

accually i was refering to the gall larvae witch is from the ball shaped gall on the plant. the worm is out of the tubular pod at the bottom of the plant. the gall larvae are very small and round and better used when they are frozen. Has anyone used them

I presume you are talking about GoldenRod grubs and yes I've used them.I'd pick them in the fall while pheasant hunting and leave them in the garage until ice fishing started.
