What do you keep in your portable icehouse sled?
« on: Jan 04, 2005, 10:27 AM »
Happy New Year boys and girls!
I got a new Frabill XLTwin for Christmas and it is my first portable. I was just wondering what equipment everyone keeps with their own houses. I am thinking of stuff that I might not of thought of. Thanks.

4 rods, jig box, bait, spare gloves, flashlight, lantern, Buddy Heater, Vexilar, extra propane and white fuel, and my small tackle box (has spare mantles, batteries, and other things in it).  Also put the auger and beverages on top of the shack too.  My shack weighs 44 pounds empty and the better part of 100# loaded.  In deep snow I make it a little easier to pull by getting rid of the heater and some other non essential items as well as using a long rope and harness to pull it out.

I carry a ton of stuff and sometime thru heavy snow. I made a harness from an old backpack, a strap and a couple of those clips for rock climbing that alot are using for their keys. I have pulled a long ways and it's very easy to use. I have never gotten tired once. I also have those runners on my sled from clam (more for the ware on the sled) because the runners make it harder to pull in the snow in my opinion.

Fish Trap Scout
4 rods and tackle box in a case
minnow bucket
Vex
AquaVu
5Lb propane tank with lantern and heater
Auger
at least a sixer of Coors Lights
a bunch of odds and ends including my pliers, ice spikes in case i fall thru :) some snacks my gloves, ice scoop. etc.

All weighs about 120 and like i said Mon No Worries
