Between the thermal properties of the modern float suit, propane heaters, etc., I think the issue for many folks is being too hot while in their shanties.

I just use my propane buddy heater, gets pretty comfortable in the pop up shanty that I usually can fish in a sweatshirt.

Other than my hands, the rest of me stays extremely comfortable inside my hut. I run my heater periodically to keep the inside temps at a reasonable level. Half the time I'm out, I find myself just using my hut for the seat and never flip it up.

Between improved suits , thermal huts , and heaters, a blanket isn’t necessary

I have an emergency blanket in the truck in case I ever take the drink but otherwise as stated above!

Nope
I keep my door open on my portables and run my sunflower heater and am fine.
Sometimes I even remove my coat.
Keep in mind I live in the Arctic too.   ;D

But then idk, it creates a mood around the special blanket.

I stay pretty warm with just a sweat shirt and my floatable bibs. Only on windy days I might put on a coat.

When I camp on the ice I take my Sleeping bag I stole from the Army when I got out. Works awesome. Turns out you have a smaller tax return when the government figures out they are missing equipment…

I used to bring a quilt for my father in law when he came along but the temps are perfect in the angel choir so I don't have to anymore. Worked great for him.

Instead of a blanket I would just throw on another pair of long johns or or another layer of some kind under my bibs or coat.
The main reason I wouldn't use a blanket because I know it would get wet and would be a pain in the butt to dry every time. It might just be the bottom edge but I can just see it getting in the ice hole or on the wet ice and picking up water and wicking it up.
That and it might end up stinky after getting bait dropped on it food dropped on it fish slime on it etc.
Most blankets are a bit big and a little bit of a pain to wash and dry.
