Title: Morey perch
Post by: jthurs on Jan 09, 2019, 03:35 PM
I am looking to get out to lake Morey and hopefully get on some nice perch this Saturday. Can anyone help me with a general area they might be in right now?

Anybody know where on the lake might be good right now or what area is usually good this time of year? Probly should have been more clear with my original post

Tips and technique questions usually get answered here BUT question about fishing spots don't get many responses.:) Electronics will help you find perch or drill a series of holes in a line and hit each hole with your jig stick until you get bites. I've drilled 50 + holes in search of perch on new waters.

I can tell you to probe deeper water , like 25-40', for big perch. Near steep drops is a good place to look. Download the depth chart on the F & W website. Morey perch can be picky, but there are some good ones mixed in with the dinks. Don't be afraid to fish away from the crowds. I think the fish are probably pretty spread out.

We caught some nice ones almost straight out from the launch last Saturday, about 7" of ice, but thinner towards shore on the right and still some open water so be careful
