Thought I'd try my luck again this year at the Sabbathday derby, sponsored by the Eagles Club. There was a LOT of folks out there and the fishing was very slow. However there was a few that had some luck. Two browns took the top two spots, weighing in at at a shade under five pounds, followed by two bass and another brown, all around three & a half pounds. I managed a 15" brown early that was released and later a 3# brown that didn't make the cut. Windy day but at least it wasn't cold. As far as the ice goes, woodchip is right, it's going fast and the north shores are breaking up. Went out on the wheeler with solid going, came back in six inches of mealy ice.Well organized derby, congrats to the Eagles staff.
And you HATE derbies!
Wish I had know you were out there! We had 7 people fishing. Only flag was the youngest in our group (7 years old). He caught a 21" eel.
