Where are the Pike this time of year?

Ok, now that we are into March where is the best bet to catch Pike?  Is it still in the deeper more oxygenated water or are they starting to move back to the shallow flats?  Just curious what you guys think.

i think that it depends on where you are, how much ice you have, snow on the ice and weather. here where i am most of the lakes have about 24 inches of ice and due to the weather we have been having it is probably still making ice.

All times of year, they are usually close by the pan fish. They never wander too far away from the refrigerator!

It really varies from lake to lake, but normally this time of year the pike are starting to move out of the deeper water haunts and into the areas just off there spawning areas. If your lake has a feeder creek at the north end of the lake that may be a good area, it will be the area that receives the most amount of the sun's warmth, making favorable for spawning, just be careful around the feeder creeks or river mouths, that ice can be very very thin so be extra carful. Like Lobes said they will also be close to the foods source so if you can find perch, suckers, whitefish even walleye in that area also you should have a good chance at a pike. Hope this helps
