Trip to Gouldsboro planned for 1/16
« on: Jan 15, 2019, 07:55 AM »
While I wait for the ice to be safe down my way, I am planning a trip up to Gouldsboro tomorrow. I understand it is fishable now but have never been there before at all. I welcome anyone that wants to go or give me some pointers on where to start. Not sure when I will start fishing but I need to be leaving the lake by 4. It is about an hour and 15 minutes away from me.

Just started ice fishing towards the end of last season so any tips or gear recommendations are very welcome.

New to this site and hope to see some of you out on the ice.

Gouldsboro is a good lake.
They drained years back and restocked it.
Some big bass to be had there now.ive gotten some real nice calico also..
Tippy med shiners 6" off the bottom.
Jig rat finkies,or demon jigs tipped with waxies.
Lake isn't very deep.
GOOD LUCK.

Thanks for the advice. I thought I read somewhere it is only 10 foot deep. So I am not sure where to start drilling. I am used to fishing defined drop offs. I guess I will see where others have been fishing. I don't have any tip-ups. I prefer to jig but I do sometimes dead stick my one rod with a minnow.

Looks like I will be getting up there about 1 and trying to stay til as close to 5 as possible. Just need to get my lines wet.

Figured I'd let ya know, I was out there yesterday, first time out on that lake, went to the right from the boat launch to the far edge of the island, shallow 5' of water, just having shiners out, couple flags throughout the day, 6 pickerel through the ice in 4 hours.

And if anybody is as childish as I am, you'll enjoy the shape of the island we nestled up against

I like to fish across from the beach.
Where the old icedam was.
Railroad tracks side.
