I'm making floats for my tip ups, so I can fish the open water. I have heard you can not fish north of the bridge,is that true?

In NY that is illegal and is considered jugging.

March 15th is the close of walleye season. You cannot fish north of the Northville bridge after that date until walleye season reopens.

Thanks  AdkRoy, I was under the impression that you could not fish north of the bridge during Ice fishing season. It stands to reason that the north end of the lake would be a better spot to fish.Seeing that walleye group up in the area near there major spawning ground which is that river. Now that I said this I will have the rest of the lake to fish myself. Skim ice in some of the protected area. Main lake still open. IF we get the snow on Thursday, that won't help...hunt2long

I have to disagree with you hunt2long, I think with the temps you have and the amount of snow your going to get will lock up most of the lake by Friday.it will definitely drop the serface temps of the water. not so good for small waters.

North end of the lake is skim ice from Northville down to the trap islands, pray it breaks up before the snow comes or the snow sinks it.  Hope they are right about the 30-40MPH winds... at this point we would be better off blowing everything off and starting over after the storm

Good news is the south end is still open water

if it just skimmed over i thing we should be in good shape for it to sink and then form new again. if the bays have significant ice that may be a problem though. either way we have 1 month to make some ice!!
