humminbird piranhamx 4 from kayak to ice ?

I have a piranhamax 4 on my kayak i was thinking of making some sort of battery box and using  it for ice fishing , can these units take the cold ? any ideas and or replies would really help !   THANKS

yes you can use it, it'll run 2 days on a 7-9ah battery on the ice so long as the battery is decently charged
Just use the 2d open water transducer and loop the cord - no need to buy an ice ducer. Plus the open water allows you to use the narrow 455khz beam which is outstanding for ice fishing - it never gets interference

I been using a Piranha 160 for a few years now and I hear the Max 4 is even better. I have the ice case & Ice transducer which is about another $75 or so...but you can use it from the Kayak. Just do a little brainstorming and check out YouTube for rigging ideas...
