Hi just about to salt some minnows, and I'm curious to here if anyone has had much success with Perch and salted minnows.

I've salted leftover smelt from the end of the season and used it the following winter and caught fish.  Hard to tell if was any better then regular frozen smelt, but better then letting it get frostbit and tossed out.

Don’t know about the op but some states don’t allow live bait or I think non-treated dead bait but do allow salted minnow type bait.

There are a lot of lakes around here that don't allow live minnows for fear of introducing unwanted invasives. Taking a dozen or two and putting 'em in a baggie with a fist full of kosher salt preserves them, and makes them legal to use as bait.

Just remember that they'll absorb water, and change bouyancy. I use an adjustable Venom float for a neutral presentation, and I'll have to adjust the length of foam to compensate.

Salted minnows work well for Spring stream fishing trout in NY but not much luck in the Winter for me.
