12 degree transducer for deeper?
« on: Jan 11, 2023, 08:30 PM »
Looking a vexilar and they say 12 degree is good to 45. I fish lake trout regularly 50-90 feet, will it still work?

It will still work, but at those depths you are going to see a lot of area. You might have to turn up your gain quite a bit though.

https://vexilar.com/blog/2019/12/04/choosing-a-transducer-beam-angle

Found this ..I am a bit disappointed ..Did they eliminate the actual 9 deg ...shame on Vexilar

https://store.vexilar.com/products/iceducers.html

The Ice-Ducer was a patented concept from Vexilar in 1997. The concept is simple, by weighting down the transducer crystal on a flexible cable, the crystal is always pointing straight down the hole. This makes it easy to move from hole to hole and know you are always directing the sonar signal straight down the hole to be able to see your lure.

No matter the age of your Vexilar, ALL Ice-Ducers will fit on ALL Vexilar Flashers, but selecting the right Ice-Ducer is important to get the most from your system.

19 degree (TB0050) is the widest angle and is great in shallow water. In 30 foot or less the 19 will get the job done.
The 12 degree (TB0080) is the most popular of Vexilar Ice-Ducers. This model performs great down to 45 feet and is ideal to use with units that have zoom zones, like the FL-18™ and FLX-20.
The 9-degree (TB0051), also known as the Pro-View Ice-Ducer, delivers the best target ID and is great for all depth applications. It is also very good at limiting interference from other sonar systems. The Pro-View comes standard on the FLX-28 but can be used on all Vexilar FL flasher systems.
The Broad Band Ice-Ducer (TBB-100), offers seven different frequencies ranging from 160kHz to 300kHz giving you seven different cone angles and giving you the best interference rejection than any other flasher on the market. The Broad Band comes standard only with the FLX-30. It is not recommended to be used with other Vexilar flasher systems.
