My first inline reel
« on: Oct 12, 2022, 12:28 PM »
Just bought my first inline reel and I'm not too familiar with them. Should the spool on my brand new 13 FISHING - Freefall Ghost / Fate V3 reel spin without pulling the trigger?

it will if the drag is loosened all the way.

Bought my first inline last year phlueger president, had problems each time I used it, line would get wrapped up behind the spool and would become useless.

Seems an issue with a few others, too. I haven't experienced that on mine.

Thanks for the responses! I shortly figured out  that the drag wasn't on at all. Duh! I should have known that from the start. All is good now. Thanks again!

Speaking about the drag, anyone else wish it was audible with a click?

Nope, too many vultures have their ears tuned to hear a screaming drag and come wandering from distances far and wide to investigate...

I turn all of the clickers off on all of my trolling rods, as well.  Who wants to listen to the reel click while reeling in a fish?

Same...except when sending out my planer boards. 1) The clicker on allows the line/board to run out slower giving me time to set depth for next line and 2) reduces the possibility of backlash when the rod is in the holder. Once set...the "clicker" is off.

LOL...darn clicking fly reel.  Everybody thinks I caught fish when I'm just letting line out.  ;D

There is a little learning curve to using an inline reel.
