Looking for the fishing experts of Southern Manitoba to help me out.
We are looking to take a break from Walleye while we are up in Selkirk for one of the days.
Any insight on a good spot would be to try to catch some giant pike with any sort of consistency?
Thanks!

Winnipeg river in the Point Du Bois area can be good too.

I'm not well versed in fishing a river. How would I know if it is safe to get on? Is there a boat ramp or something? Would we walk out or take machines?
thanks!

We used the local boat ramp on the north side of town to drive on and park.
The main snowmobile trail runs close to the launch so we used it to get to our spot about a mile away.
It’s a huge river and you are right to be careful about where you are sledding. We stayed very close to shore a fished a small shallow bay. Several very large pike were caught. Tip ups and very large baits worked well.
If you do go out stay safe and good luck.
This is one.
