ice thickness on Polk or Barron county lakes.
« on: Dec 14, 2007, 01:57 PM »
Hi my name is Chad, I live in River Falls by Hudson. I spend most of my time fishing in Polk and Barron counties. Just wondering how thick the ice is up there and where some good crappie action is.

It varies from lake to lake but generaly 6-8 in the deep and 10-12 in the bays.  White Ash is about 11 inches and they are driving on it off the landings, but Upper Turtle is still light in spots.  ATV's and sled's are running on nearly all the lakes in this area but vehicle traffic is iffy.  Use caution (or common sense).
