Amazing fishing all up and down that river system. I'll be heading up to onalaska the 17th to search for jumbos. Good luck. Posts some pics!
-
Good luck, we're going to pool 9 the 24 n 25th by airboat, hoping the ice holds, need some jumbos
-
Can U post name of some guides?
Thanks
-
Good luck up there.
I fished Onalaska a number of years ago. My buddy had been up there and caught huge crappies on backwaters. When we got the the Old Muddy had done some changing. We drilled in where he had pounded the crappie. Water was about 18" deep!!!! Bummer! We ended up catching a big bag of good gills at mouth of Black River. No crappies.

I'm on 7 and 8 and we're still going hard but the ice is not great for how late into the season it is and the 10 day is pretty grim. The runoff from these warm days will get the current pumping. I'm sure you'll have ice on the backwaters but I'd expect the main channel to be open below the dams. The nice thing about the airboat is you can fish ice or open water with it and the fishing should hopefully be heating up around then.

Bills outdoor Network is the guide I think

Fished outta pool 4 with Jordan from rutting ridge outfitters. It was $200 each for 8 hours. That airboat was something else. We were traveling on good ice then flying over open water then back up on ice again. Definitely a cool experience. Perch bite was good, especially the first 3 hours of daylight. Got a bonus pike that surprised me. Saw a couple bald eagles. Saw several trucks on the ice. I'll post some pics in a couple hours

Thanks guys. I'd say 3/4's came on tip downs with fathead minnows and 1/4 on jigging rods with a jig and fathead minnow. Highly recommend going

A successful trip for sure 👍

it's a good time for sure, I have been fishing pool #9 / 8 since 1989 have made a few friends there over the years. and find a new spot each time we go, just don't go thinking you're still fishing Indiana waters. you may have 24" of ice and 18" of water. under you don't give up you're ok most times that's where the fish are. good luck, be safe, if I can help with some info let me know.

I'm headed to Onalaska Friday. No guide and will be on foot. Been there a couple times with mixed results. Reports saying ice held up well through the rain yesterday. Wish us luck, will post pics if successful
-
Good luck
-
You'll be fine on foot, just make sure and bring your creepers I'm sure it's gonna be slicker than snot out there after the rain. Looks like it should be a real nice weekend to be out.

Thanks. Good luck if you do the surgery again. You missed a whole ice season last year or 2 years ago, didn't you?
-
Dec 13th will be my 6th knee surgery.
I may still make it to the river or somewhere up north. Good luck n hoping for good ice this year
-
Hope they get it right this time. I am waiting for a good report regarding my wife before I schedule mine.

Surgery went well, finished my 2 weeks of physical therapy. I'll go to see Doc Wed Jan 3rd to have bandage removed and be released. They removed scar tissue and old pieces of ligaments from when I had knee replacements. Said it's common but I can bend my knee again and it's feeling great. I'll be fishing more in 24 lol. Hope all goes well with your wife AL
-
Thanks Tom, I believe she sees her doctor on the third as well. Just had MRI at Northwestern on Saturday. I hope that 24 is a much better year. Wishing everyone a blessed and happy new year.
