Looks like the resistor R201 crispy fried .

Looks like it is a center tap resistor for transformer T201, which connects to the dummy load

Symptoms were lost flashes       all I see is the dead top center flash
Transducer is not clicking

Transducer is known good I just  tested on another SL8

Anybody tell me the ohms value?

Hopefully this response won't come off to you as me being a smart ass, but I can tell you from my personal experience, Vexilar's technical support/repair facility is top notch. I broke the gain switch on my fl-22 shortly after I bought it. Sent the entire unit back to them via fed ex with a note included asking them to call me once they got the unit and had a chance to look at it. The tech called me first thing the morning they received it, he replaced the switch, repaired it under the warranty even though it wasn't a warranty kind of thing and because I included a prepaid fed ex label with the package, he put it back in the packaging and had it on its way back to me the same day.

Top notch service in my eyes.
