Sun and 60 degree south wind is doing a number. Only 2 tenths of rain so far. Fingers crossed shore can hold up.

They upped the temps across the ten day since yesterday.  The fat lady is gargling.

I’m no expert but pull up the beach cam and look at the tree over the bath house and watch it for a min 😉

Time to look into uncovering the boat? It was a great but too short ice season but when one door closes….

I won’t complain if we get another weekend or two on Oneida but I still have my annual chaumont trip I haven’t taken yet. This wind may end those dreams quick up there though.

It’s always bittersweet,,, I love the ice as much as everyone else. Today I  Rigged up three spring jigging rods and organized some summer tackle…..

Way off topic but I caught a huge silver bass or white perch yesterday on a tip up. Thought it was a walleye pulling it in and debated whether I should keep it or not. Are they as good as perch when they’re that big? Was probably close to 15” and thick.

To me they’re not as tasty as perch or walleye. They are okay if you cut the bloodline out.

I know I’ve kept one or two smaller ones before and mixed in with the perch fillets never noticed much of a difference. I figured being that big it wouldn’t be worth keeping since I already had a decent amount of perch on the ice.

It must have stripped about 50’ of line off the tip up. That may have been the flag I ran for that took out my rod in my excitement.  I thought the tip up was going to start hovering the way that thing was spinning.

Beautiful part of fishing west end is you don’t have to deal with them.  I caught a few at Chapman and gave them to my buddy and he said they were gross.  I don’t know how he cooked them.

If you sit around all day and do nothing your a bum, but if you sit in a boat all day or in a shanty and do nothing they call you a fisherman

THe school I got into were super aggressive.  They would race each other up 10’ to hit it on the drop.
