After a tough afternoon yesterday, my cousin and I had a banner morning. Limited in a half hour out of the South shore. Good luck this week!

Anyone know what these bumps are?? Caught this eye yesterday off south shore with them. Saw a post on target walleye last week of a fish completely covered with them on one side from somewhere out in the Midwest. Harmful to the fish? Humans??

Haven’t been on here in a long time.  But I have been fishing.  So,  hello again everyone.  Hope you’re all doing well. I had a great soft water season and ice season is off to a very good start.  Good luck everyone.

Lymphocystis and Walleye Dermal Sarcoma  another great answer  from google!!!!!

https://www.pnas.org/content/97/11/6114

This specifically mentions Oneida Lake and that at any given time approx. 30% of the walleye population can have it.
Interesting read. Thanks for posting.

Arm fell off when I got home yesterday but got a few. Dead stick did much of the work but had to get them to come in. Couple keeper eyes too.

I know the common thought is to be mobile and keep moving but I drilled three holes flipped the shanty over, cranked the heat and didn't move. Gold 5/8 ounce blade on 6lb fireline on a pool cue 20" glass rod (the yellow and black ones that used to be in buckets at bait shops w 2 eyes) on the left and size 4 hook with a 1/4 ounce lead splitshot on 4lb fluoro on the other with a fathead. 3rd hole for the flasher. Pounded the bottom with the blade and probably  caught a dozen on that rod but majority were caught on the minnow rod. Dozen eyes and a big smallie but only 2 that were for sure over 15". Some were close if not over but so skinny they went back down the hole.  Friends I fished with bounced around more and tried many presentations and did ok averaging 20 each for the 4 of them. Some days just need to grind it out and chip away and be ready when the fish do show so you grab a few before they move on. I'm sure a ton of luck played into it too and on an old waypoint for this time of the ice season in 24' water.
