How snow you guys expecting from this storm?  Been watching the weather for Brewerton and it changes every 30 minutes  :o.  Coming up first time this year to fish Sat-Mon with the wheeler.  Hoping the snow is not gonna force a reschedule!  Most likely destinations are Chapman and Lewis.  Did see the pressure crack at Lewis is pretty prohibitive and will be very sketchy/ possibly invisible if covered in white stuff.  That does not sound too ideal!

Can’t always count on the weatherman, the other day it was supposed to snow up north but ended up at Oneida 😉

Went out with one of the boys out of Sylvan Beach yesterday, spent 4 hours with 12 tip ups in 18 feet and the boy did some jigging we didn't get a hit and didn't see anybody have any action? first time on the ice on Oneida looks like probably need to go further west to the boat launch 6 to 7 good ice a lot of ATV's out!

Looks like 2”-5” tonight. Not too bad.

I took the oldest tonight for a quick trip. The fish were not fired up but he got a couple. I was just there to coach. Nice night out there with my buddy.

Nice job DeadEyes! Nice to see a good limit on a tough weekend.  Went out off south shore Saturday and hit 5 eyes at first light with only one 18" keeper and a jack perch. Caught one more perch and did 3 more shorts at the late bite. Saw more lookers than biters.

Great job little Reeleyez!! I fished the last 1 1/2 before dark. The bite wasn’t to good. Fished same spot as the two previous outings. 1 keeper 1 short and dropped one keeper at the hole. Didn’t mark to many tonight.

Those fish were definitely lethargic last night with the snow coming in.

Anybody seen this? A big square hole drilled off LP.

Looks like equipment recovery but don’t they normally use a chainsaw and flag it off when they are done? What else could it be?

I've seen videos of people swimming in holes like that inside a heated shanty for what reason I have no clue. Only other guess would be some smart a** guys wanted to jig in a giant hole all at the same time

Death trap......

Absolutely. By now it's skimmed over with 4" of snow on top. In probably the busiest area on the lake.

did They leave a caution maker?   Making a hole that big should not be legal

First off. Great fish and pics everyone!

Deadeyez, you found the adult school, I see. Beautiful fish. I've been sitting on 13-17 inchers. Been able to take 3 of what I consider perfect eaters (16" males) everyday but nothing over 18 1/2" yet. I like it when the bite is good enough that I can pick out those eaters, it's not as satisfying when they're my best fish. The fish I'm getting are bone skinny too. Never seen 'em this skinny in the winter.

That hole could also be a sight fishing hole. I remember someone asking if they were legal in NY on here last fall. There's some great videos on YouTube of guys in Canada fishing trout though them (Uncut Angling, Jay Siemens) but I always thought that I hope nobody tries that down here. Site fishing doesn't seem to make sense that deep though and whatever it is it should have been roped off. Crazy dangerous, especially with this snow.

Looks like a spear hole to me, but that's just always the first thing that comes to mind whenever I see something cut that big.

I have not watched a lot of spearing videos but I remember them talking about it on a meateater podcast. I thought they slid the sheet of ice under the ice and then pulled it back into place when they left. That would be the responsible thing to do at least.

There's the same thing off Philips Point on the north shore.  I was thinking a recovery hole of some sort?  Definitely not cool.

seen one cut on big bay a few years ago,i marked it ......i often wonder if they are sight fishing holes or a attempt to get someone wet ....anyone that fishes would mark them ...i think they are left unmarked  intentional.....i think  we  should  post  gps  chords and mark them  a  scrap wood  stick  painted  orange  in your  sled  is all it would take ....i can't help  but worry about a kid  going in one......if  you see someone  make  one  do a sully  and  bucket  educate the moron

Maybe they dropped something important down the hole and made bigger to try to snag it? I thought about doing that once when my 6 yr old son kicked my fathers favorite skimmer down the hole. Or maybe the aliens are now taking up ice fishing due to covid.  :o

I don’t think that’s what’s going on if there are three spots that people found within days of each other. Strange
