drove past big bay around noon. alot of the bay is wide open. the snow insulated what ice is there, and with the foot of snow we have coming, it's going to be just a few days more. it won't be long guys and gals.   sully...

 I headed back up north this morning even with the barometer screaming
 Dying to try my new rod built by mad river tackle and it’s very comfortable and with loads of back bone

I just google  sylvan beach web cams

I don't give ice reports  1 if you say the ice is unsafe  people yell and say yes it is  if you say it's 4 inches someone else says it's 7  and God forbid if  someone  steps in a  gas hole after you said it was safe  ......nope you go check yourself use your ruler   and then you know .....your a big boy you make your own decision if you should be out there or not ...

East side of Lewis is locked west side has open water between shore ice and main lake so I would say the ice is still pushing. Shore ice is pretty chunky.

Trap is right, i have been on 12" of good ice and walked 20' and drilled 4" so don't be fooled that the ice forms evenly.

Besides...all trapp mentioned was that he "saw" guys out at sylvan....hard to tell how thick the ice is from the car.

That's even more comical...to think you could report ice thickness...btw I've been open water fishing too from boat on Cayuga lake...perch and puckered...kept a nice puckered...so yummy!

john you know me I'm the all powerful trapper I can tell the thinckness of ice sitting 30 miles away watching on a web cam and this guy wants to put his safety in my hands ....exactly why I don't give ice reports....

One time last year a guy posted on here asking how thick the ice was on chautauqua lake..
He posted that he was in the parking lot at mayville looking at the lake and didn't see anyone on the ice
