Title: Teardrop Reel ?'s

What is the knob for on the opposite side on the handle?  Just says Max, and I know it's not the drag, lol.  Some instructions in the box would have been nice!!

I haven't done much research on this reel but it caught my eye today at Scheels and they have been marked down.  So my question is this reel just an ice reel or can you cast with it during the summer months?

Pretty much made for jigiing, not shure how you would be able to cast with it...
