Skiff of ice on Blackstrap yet?????
« on: Oct 26, 2019, 08:57 PM »
I know there is still some hunting to do, but just wondering if there is anyone out at Blackstrap that can let us
know when there is a skiff of ice from shore to shore.

I’ve always used the highway cameras to see the water conditions in the south end of the lake. It usually freezes and thaws from that end first. https://hotline.gov.sk.ca/cameras/blackstrap.html

Thanks Ran7ger/Whytie.  I do have the Hwy camera book marked, but I see it is down this morning.  Some cold nights coming up with low day time
temps, so like you say, it won't be long.  The high winds aren't helping right now.

Should be done deer hunting around Nov. 20th to 24th, and I imagine it will be safe to walk on by then.  Sure miss those fresh perch
shore lunches/suppers.

Its the most wonderful time of the year!

Given the rule of 15 freezing degree days to form an inch of ice there should be 3.75" of new ice by Monday morning. Or 2.75" by Sunday morning.  This is based on the current forecast. Won't be long
TEAM Saskatchewan: Yes, we have ice in December!.
