i like the one i have, its the tent style 3 man eskimo, i can set it up if needed, its easy to cary around (18 puonds), sets up by myself in under a minute, maybe 2 in wind, for heavy wind i have screw in pegs, you cant beat it, i have a jet sled that carries everything and weighs less than half of what the flip overs weigh without gear

I will stick to my Shappell DX 3000. I don't like flipovers, and I need to be highly mobile.

In the past few seasons I have really done some research on shanty styles, sizes and what not.  I have come to the conclusion that any shelter that blocks the wind and will keep a person out of the elements is the ideal shanty.

Mobility is my number one concern, so my answer is the same. I would rather be catching fish in a portable than getting drunk in a shanty nicer than my house. ;D.

You guys should see some of the ice houses they build out on Leech Lake by Walker MN. When they get the Eelpout Festival going, some of these guys will dump ten grand into a shanty. Ive seen two story shacks with satellite TV. Some I bet could sleep 20 or more. The sky is the limit when you have 30+ inches of crystal clear ice.

Hardside's! Final Answer! Family, friend's, food, refreshment, and FUN! Golf or cards! Cooking or games! Football or baseball! Two or ten shack's! It's a great time!

If somebody else is gonna haul it out and set it up at the start of the season and drag it off in the spring, a well equipped hard side sure is nice. If I gotta do it myself, I'll stick with my Frabil Scout ;D

If we got ice like they do in Canada andc Minn. I would love to have a hardside.  I would have bunks, wood/cooking stove, t.v., radio, food, beer, all the comforts of home.  I would then use my flipover to go prospecting.  I would love to load up the kids and all our provisions on a Friday after work and tell the wife I'll see you sometime Sunday.  Fish, eat, sleep all in the shanty for the weekend.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

I'll have to admit, it takes 12" inches of clear ice to have a pickup and a shack together where we fish. First ice we freeze, late ice we're wet!
