Where to buy a Nils???
« on: Dec 27, 2010, 09:06 PM »
I know it is late in the season but with graduation money in my pocket I am looking to buy a Nils 8". I live near Eau Claire and I am looking for a store that sells Nils. Thanks in advance for any info!

Unfortunatally there is no place in the area that sells Nills.Your best bet is to get them from an online store.I have looked into them and I still run my SM...Good Luck,Paul

I had that same problem in NH and had to order online from Red Rock.  They were quick to ship and easy to deal with.

Stout; from everything I've heard, they are a great auger.  My only caution would be that if you get the cutting head dull, you are going to either need someone who knows how to sharpen it the right way (difficult in the midwest because these augers don't get used as much here as they do out east) or you'll need to ship it back to Nils to get sharpened which means you are without your auger.  The advantage of a Strikemaster/Jiffy, etc is that you can find replacement blades just about anywhere.  Just make sure you have a place that knows how to sharpen that cutting head the right way if you are going to get one of those.  A bad sharpen job and you won't like that auger.

I have a 6" Nils and it's a great ice auger. Red Rock Wilderness store has great service and fast shipping.

Sound like everyone is sold out but a shipment is due to come in from Nils. So get your name on the list.
