Opinion's, Please! :)
-
Hello! :) Anybody out there in WI.? Here's one idea. How, about separate, district jamboree's?? 8)
-
You may have to track these guys down on MFF ;)
-
Your probally 100% right, RLWagner! I'm just trying too plan ahead. I'm a company man from April 1st to December 21st. January, February and March, it's my time. That just happens to be, ICE FISHING TIME!!!
-

For a felloa in the Great White North, thats the best time to be available! Good luck on tracking them down! :)

I'm in!! I like the idea of the district jamboree's maybe starting early ice and then a statewide jamboree toward the end of the season. This will allow some friendships to form early on and people may be less apprehensive to go to a statewide jamboree. You know, travel in packs with new friends.
-
I agree with esox, several local ones to start the season and then a state wide one. If the state wide one was located more central it would also bring in more people. Say some where along the Hwy 64 or 29 line across the state. I have not been to one yet but paln on making it this year come he!! or high water.
-
One, can only imagine, what this event could be, with a little planning!! Great idea, esox13!! CrappieGuy, has one good area picked, for something statewide!!
-
District's, or area's! Or both! Let's have some fun, this winter, for a contest! In WI. :)
-
I'm in, just don't forget the northeast part of wi.
-
Let's start! Lake Poygan, could be one local? ???
-
Poygan is part of the Winnebago chain. Remember they just discovered VHS in that chain a few weeks ago? ??? ??? ??? :'( :'( :'(
HIMO
-
VHS! Most likely, every where else, already? One can't contain it, after, the (PANDORA'S BOX) is opened! :o
-
I really like the idea of local ones then a statewide one, or set some up in areas and guys can travel to whichever ones they want, that wuld probably help out with the statewide
-
Great, to hear from you Buck! Truly sorry, about your knee, and not returning the message! :( Computers are EVIL!! :-[ Where's a good place in your area!!
-
I'm thinkin for West Central Wisconsin, Lake Altoona (Crappie Guy's home turf), Lake Eau Claire, not big named lakes, but for guys in the area they know them, if anyone else around here has ideas throw'em up, I'm open to ideas. Thanks, it's actually doin really well I was about 4.5 weeks ahead on rehab when I went to see the doc last time.
-
Instead of areas! How about water systems? ??? River or lake? ;D ;D Buck1985's, idea.

I'd be game for lake altoona (live in Chippewa Falls)

The other lake that could be pretty good is Wissota. Although early season ice can be sketchy.
brujharr, what lakes were you thinking for a "main event" location? Silver lake in Wautoma, is about in the middle of the state (geographically) I'm game for about anything though.
nick.

Nice choice's, gaudetskie! I'm thinking, some where on the "WISCONSIN RIVER" for the main event!
-
how is the WI for ice? I've never fished it in the winter, sounds like it could be fun ;D
-
gaudetskie - I fish the Petenwell quite often in the winter and do well on perch, crappies, walleye and pike. It can be a bit spooky at times, but if you know where the river channel is (marked well on the HotSpot map) you will be ok. There is usually no guessing where the fish are - shanty town follows them pretty tight. We also head up to Nakoosa for pike and usually do good there as well.
As far as a mutli species body of water the Wisconsin River (namely the Petenwell) is as good as any in the state.
-
So,some local event's and a main event? ???
-
So,some local event's and a main event? ???
That is what I am figuring from the responses - sounds like it is going to be a blast.
-
So, district's or water system's?
-
So, district's or water system's?
District's would draw a more "local crowd", that being, IS members in a close geographical area. Might be kinda cool to fish with your "neighbors".
On the other hand water systems might be a better deal for the "main event". We could get a feel for what system guy's (and gals) want to fish, but maybe just haven't the "proper motivation".
Just a few thoughts, when all is said and done though, I'll go pretty much any where ;D
-
I agree, gaudetskie! Good Idea! Local tournaments, by district's.
-
Hey, this looks like a fun idea.
So I am willing to set up an event for southeast WI. let me know what I can do to help.

jr_the_dj -- what lakes do you generally fish in SE WI?
I live in Fort Atkinson, but fish from Okauchee and Pewaukee up to Fox and Beaver Dam and out to Rock and Ripley and pretty much everything in between when I am in the area
Whatever everyone thinks for the outing . We have been putting our permanent shack on Lake Beulah for the past 10 years, but I think we are going to relocate it. The fishing just isn't close to what it once was.
Whatever everyone thinks is a good location for the outing is fine with me.
-
Well I normally travel north a bit to fish but because I live in Sheboygan I figure doing something around southeast WI would be better off. But I was just looking at a map and some old fishing reports off "LL" and I was thinking we could do Big Cedar somewhere around the mid to late Jan.
I guess I picked that lake cause it seems to be about the middle of SE WI. If someone thinks differently let me know.
Last year the ice depth was about 6" by the 23rd of Jan. So we can hope for a cooler winter a little sooner and we could hit it by mid Jan.
Any thoughts?
-
Would nine work? I'm thinking smaller area's, at different dates. Spread it out. ( North West North Central North East West Central Central East Central South West South Central South East) One might be able too, attend at least one. Without, allot of time or money. (Family and the price of gas) Or maybe two or three, without traveling far.
-
That looks good man  I'll probably try to get to a couple events this year 8) Let me know if you need a hand with any of the set up with the NW or Central West events.
-
So far as I'm concerned. All one, has to do is volunteer first, for any area. Then, their in charge/responsible for the event! Have at it, gaudeskie!! :woot:
-
Sounds like a good time to me. Good way to meet some members locally that you may fish with on a more regular basis after such an event. I know Altoona the best but wouldn't mind fishing one the of other local lakes in WC WI. Keep me posted.
-
we definitely need an event like this up here in vilas county..........be glad to help
-
Gaudetski, Wicked 1, Crappie Guy, I think the 4 of us could probably get an event goin if y'all are willin to volunteer. Lake Altoona, Lake Eau Claire, Lake Wissota, any of these lakes would be good choices for an event. I'm from Osseo and usually fish Lake Eau Claire, but am willing to try somethin new, what does everyone else think for a location?
-
I wouldn't mind Eau Claire. I don't fish it much, but it might be a cool location. Lake altoona is kinda my "home turf" so I'd be cool with that too. Wissota hates me before 4:00 pm, after that walleye time
Any way I'll be their! As far as "spear heading" the tournament goes I don't think I'm the right man for the job. I haven't fished many tournys (2). As far as organizing one goes I think I'll take a rain check. However if there is a need to have someone help with the leg work let me know, I'd be glad to help!
-
It doesn't have to be tournament style. More like a big get together outing. have a couple guys bring grills, have some guys bring some meat, buns, chips, potatoes so on and so forth,
-
I agree, Buck1985. TOURNAMENT'S, are a competitive event. The fishing, should just be FUN! Mistake, on my part. :( Let's have, Fisheree's, instead!! ;D
-
Weekend Meetups's would be nice for me. If someone knows what lake they are going to be fishing, Post a Weekend Meetup so people can get together.
-
Alright, now that I think most general questions have been answered, where are the events gonna be and when? Or are we gonna wait till a little closer to ice time before we make those calls?
Cause I was thinking that you boys up nort' would be able to start an event near the beginning of Jan. if that is the case we could kinda work our way down the state. The "southern" parts of the state could have their "jamboree" the first weekend of Feb and then by mid Feb we could do the "WI State Jamboree"
Like I said before I am willing to spearhead an event for SE WI, I was thinking Big Cedar Lake, it will have to be on a sunday cause of work. Ill bring along the grill and Ill provide the brats, (Being from "The brat capitol of the world" Sheboygan)
If anyone has any input, get back to me.

I would be in for a get together this winter. My home turf is Lake menomin but I would be willing to travel if there was plenty of advanced notice. Hope this all works out it sounds like a good time.
-

Good call brujharr!! I'm liking the sounds of that ALOT better than a tournament ;D
-

with a name like "Wissota Bear" I would assume you fish the lake a bit. Maybe we'll try to set something up on Wissota for a get together. My buddy 'Bushland. fishes that lake a bit through out the season, and I'd like to hit it more this winter my self. ;D We'll look at more closely after gun deer season (or muskie season for me 8) )
-
When there's safe ice, I'll be fishing the north shore. Big Round Lake in Polk County might be a good meetup spot for early ice. Wissota is one of the last lakes to freeze up.
-
Count me in.
I like the idea of Big Round. Early ice is excellent for Jumbo Perch. And there is plenty of them there.
-
I may have to travel up to Big Round Lake... I grew up in Burnout county, so traveling north for the weekend isn't too tough for me to do.
-
Count me in on big round, good lake lots of good fishing :)
-
Big Round it is then ;D Let's look to mid Nov. To try to hammer out a date, and decide who wants to check for safe ice ahead of time. This sounds like a good time
-
Please, check out the new post! ;D "2008" WISCONSIN ICESHANTY MEMBER EVENT'S. ;D
