Cornelia and surrounding shallow lakes
« on: Jan 07, 2020, 10:59 AM »
Hey all,

New to the forum, but I do a lot of ice fishing in north central Iowa. I hit Cornelia a couple weeks back and caught a bunch of little yellows, but noticed several other lakes around there that I didn't know about. Was wondering if anyone knows anything about Elm or East/West Twin. Thanks in advance!

Fished down that way a few times years ago on Cornilia.  I heard a fish story about a once state record perch at Morse Lake just North of there.  Only tried once with no luck, but didn't drill many holes either.  Maybe worth a try.

Morse Lake is drained for restoration. The same thing was going to happen to Elm, but they ran into a snag.

West Twin was a hot lake for big perch a few years ago. Still has a few, but a tougher time finding them.

Don't understand the reasoning for restoring two lakes in the same area at same time, My original home was only a few miles from West Twin and was always a secret sleeper lake.
