Post by: PerchBusterSD on Oct 23, 2003, 08:40 AM
Ifin you were starving and only could use one lure to try and catch your next meal, what would that lure be?

It would be a jig of some sort. Open water, a MiniMite Cubby jig.For ice fishing, probably a Genz Worm.

A size 10 glow/green rat finkee tipped with two spikes will catch anything that swimms.... Got a 6 lb eye on one last winter while fishing perch....

If I was starving I would go buy a ribeye. But if I really wanted to catch a fish, size 12 marmooska orange and chart or green and chart with two maggots.

Mr S. I have to agree with you, chart and green marmooska, except here in my part of Indiana, I have to go with a mousie.

jdm isnt Indiana where mousies come from? I always heard that from my dad. I only know of one place to buy mousies and I really dont have as much luck with them. Also, the one place to buy mousies is run by a creepy dude.
Last year had a lady ask me how I could pick up maggots. I told her its not that hard, just get your fingers real close together.

PerchBusterSD

I fish in Southern  Wyoming and Northern Colorado, the jig I try first is an 1 1/2" pumpinseed tube jig. I have caught trout, perch, walleye and crappie with it. Sweeten it with 1/2 a meal worm or a small piece of raw shrimp from the deli and hold on. Watch the line though if it seems like it hasn't sunk to the bottom you probably  have a fish on, set the hook. Try it, you'll like it.

Stay warm , afishingfool

Seems like the Marmooska with a grub is working well here in NY. That"s my pick.. ;)

A drop shot rig - A small blue/silver kastmater with the treble removed and an 1/16 ounce jig suspended about 2 inches below it.  It is a definite perch killer!

I like a glow demon tipped with a couple of maggots or a waxie. I've caught a ton of panfish and a 19" pike on it.

Glow rat finke tipped with waxworm will out fish anything on the strip mines I fish in Illinois. Big bluegill & crappie. Hog perch as well.

I would have to say a Custom Jigs and Spins Demon.

You can tip them with anything. They will catch just about anything.

Assuming that you already own a set of lures, and that if you're starving you're probably out of work and can't afford bait, and finding bait in the winter is difficult...

2 Size 12 orange or chartreuse Marmooska with a Custom Jigs n Spins finesse tail rigged in tandem 16" apart.

If someone gave me bait, then I'd opt for 2 maggies on the bottom one.

If I had only one of them then I'd fish it solo! ;D

Hard water?  Soft?  Shore bound?  One lure, 12 months a year....  1/4 ounce gold kastmaster.  Jig it, troll it, cast it, but in the winter put a 4 inch dropper on it and a demon or tick.  Tipped with waxies if ya got em.
