possumilk, you aleast know how much fun lakers are to catch in the winter.

What Duck Doctor said is right on.  If you look around, this subject has been brough up already in a couple different threads.  You might have to go back a week or so, but there's a lot of good information there.

I second that, and there are a ton of lakers in that lake. Maybe they switched to rainbows because they could distribute them over the state better, but that point is gone now as they have narrowed down the lakes they are putting taggies in anyway. Bring back the tagged lakers! Less salmon will be caught and killed ( or stressed)

maybe just make the prize for the biggest laker bigger.
biggest tagged rainbow wins the boat.
biggest laker wins the 4-wheeler.

The best spot is right by the boat ramp at the Meredith town docks.  They catch huge tagged trout there all the time! (heh, heh, heh) :D

You laugh but I was told by the local bait guy that a 22 inch taggie was caught and realeased the other day in Meredith Bay.

I don't doubt it.  That's where they stock 'em.  It's a running joke on here though about the boat ramp.

I'm sure they do catch em there in the bay. BUT I've always wondered how many trout or (any fish) are caught in that bay that weekend out of the hundreds of people crowded there???

a friend of mine fishes the river that comes in there.he's caught over 20 tagers in the last 3 years.
he claims if there was'nt 3000 people partying it would be the best fishing on the whole lake for bows.

No way.  Seriously?  That sounds like a fish story.

I always get confused with deciding where to go up until the last minute. Hang out with the crowd and party it up or put my game face on and zoom in on the fish. Definitely a hard decision for day one. Day 2 is a no brainer. :)

I believe that. No doubt their in that general area but with the circus going on I'm sure most of them run for cover. Otherwise it should be a good spot.

I think it is a good spot.  That whole bay, except around that little island, is mainly sand.  But like you said I would think the noise would spook the hell out of the Bows.  I don't take my sled near a hole I am fishing for Bows out of.
