I am just hoping for some traction for the sled since they don't have any snow on the ice this year as opposed to last.  I feel confident in my partner this time around and don't have to deal with the idiot from last year.  It will be the Phil and Bill show  ::) ;D

Unless I am thinking of the other sled, I believe the one you have may have a studded track.  Should be easy to check, and I may be thinking of the other one.

Started with 68  teams today.   We had the 61st starting spot.  Ended up the first day with 4.15# of fish. 16 perch.  Moved to 28th spot for Sundays starting position.  Hopefully we can get to the weeds and pound the crappies.   It was combat fishing on them weeds today but we should be able to secure our 15 ft of weeds.  It was a very informative day to say the least.

Yes we were able to get in on the ONE weed bed where there were specs and gills under our holes but couldn't get anything to go.  stuck it out for a couple hours and then went out to get our 16 fish. Ironically there was a second small weed bed about 150yds. from the other that the first place team was on and come to find out it was kind of beginners luck. they have only been fishing 2yrs. got there to prefish friday morning drilled a few holes and low and behold they found this spot where there were no weeds last year.  sometimes it luck of the draw on which hole has the aggressive fish and which ones don't.  not much room to move around unless you stick it out all day and take your chances like some of the teams did and still had low weights.  Had fun and was a learning experience all in all.  some of the best in the nation and some world class sticks as well  several gold silver and bronze medalist from world championship competitors.. Sad to come to open water after drilling 20 inches of ice for the last five days..thanks for the support and hopefully will see some more teams sign up for the maxi qualifier this year since they will be adding perch.

It sounds like you had a good time Bill.
Your lesson on Maxi last year wasn't enough for me to enter the tourney
By the way I'm ready for the second lesson ;D It was fun fishing with you.

Great job Phil & Bill!       I love ice fishing because it's fun.

For me.....Fishing to win a tournament ends up being work!  I commend both of you for your efforts.

Congratulations!

I have learned how to combine the two and I even told Phil saturday that I am loving drilling through 18 in. of ice and dreading going home to open water  I had a blast and can't wait to go next year. There will be fish to catch then and the fun of finding and figure them out is just a perk  lol

You have the right idea, tournaments are very educational, are a great test, and can always be fun... it is what you make it.
