Just bought 5 series and getting back into ice fishing from a long layoff….wondering how much bottom area i can see on this unit

The 5 has a toggle between std and narrow cone….22 & 8 degrees I think but you’d have to do the math.  The 6 displays the area based on your depth and setting.  I never need that information though. Love my 5 though. Enjoy!

The M5 has dual beam 8/20 degree cone angle. If you use the 20 degree cone, to determine the bottom coverage area is to divide the depth your fishing in by 3. (30fow=10ft of bottom coverage area.)

The 8 degree cone (NBT is pressed) you divide the depth you are fishing in by 7. (30fow=4.25ft of bottom coverage).

Thanks for the help….mine didnt come w manual and was having hard time with my old eyes on the downloaded version

Try a search on the Marcum website. You should be able to download a manual for your M-5.
