Has anyone fished Oakley Corners in Tioga Co? Any report on the ice ?
-
Has anyone fished this before was thinking of giving it a try??
-
It's only 2 feet deep in most of it maybe 3 near dam has pickerel but with all the weeds you really can't get a bait in I live walking distance from it
-
Mmmm wonder why they stock tiger musky there then?? Thanks for the info maybe cooks pond then this week.
-
I was thinking of exploring it also. Guess I won't bother. I've lived in Nichols all my life and somehow just learned about it a month ago! I agree, its odd that they would stock tigers in it if its only a couple feet deep. Thanks for the info

I might check it out any way. I’m just looking at somewhere new to try

So I have fished it from my canoe I have been told about the tigers but I highly doubt it it seems everyone has a tiger stocking story about every pond in the area there are decent pickerel I think people don't know the difference and think that's what they are

Yea I just happened to be scrolling through the dec stocking page and it said it stocked this pond so I’d thought I’d ask but I can’t believe they would if it’s only a few feet deep.
-
Yup it says anual stocking but I don't believe it and don't think they would get more than the size of pickerel also said often has die offs due to very shallow water so as you said why waste them in there
-
Yeah, I was going by the DEC web page also as far as the tiger stocking. Seems pretty unlikely to me
-
I call them every year about specific trout stocking days for year round streams( kids kill em) I just use them for catfish bait but I’m going to ask em about the musky… just curious
-
Are you saying you use trout for bait I think that's iligal

I do for cut bait they work awesome. I didn’t think you couldn’t is that because there a gamefish?
-
I just remembered reading it somewhere probably is as you said being a game fish I would make a call and ask nys doesn't need you donation lol
-
I would also assume possession for use as bait with out it being certified as a legal bait fish could warrant a ticket just looking out none of us need a ticket

We fished Oakley Corners several years ago. As greensider said it is very shallow. I hoped that it would be considerably deeper near the dam but it wasn't. We caught a lot of very small pickerel that day and only managed one worth keeping.

I was there last weekend and my buddy and I caught a few pickerel each, but we were hoping for musky. Does anyone know of any musky that have been caught there? It seems like an amazing place and I plan on going back for musky but if no one has heard of one being caught I'm not sure it's worth it. It definitely seemed shallow but the pickerel were biting in deeper sections I found so that gave me hope for tigers. Any info appreciated, thanks!
