NYS Outdoor Places to Visit
« on: Mar 12, 2020, 11:54 AM »
So there isn't any safe ice by me, inland trout hasn't opened up and the ice isn't out.  It's too nice to do yard work and to be stuck in the house.  It has me thinking about places to go visit outside that could be dual purpose fishing scouting and just someplace cool to go and visit.

So by county in NY if you had to pick two natural features to go check out what would you recommend?  I haven't been all over but a few places do come to mind, at least for me....anybody else bored and have any recommendations

Oswego:
 * Salmon River Falls
 * Oswego sunset

Niagara
 * Niagara river (falls, devils hole etc)
 * View from escarpment

Orleans:
 * Holley falls
 * Medina Falls

Erie
 * Chestnut Ridge
 * Zoar Valley / Cattaraugus Creek

Chautauqua
 * Panama Rocks
 * View from Barcelona

Wayne
 * Chimney  Bluffs
 * Port Bay
Blue snow is better than yellow snow

I love the ride from Blue Mt Lake to Lake Placid, just don’t try to do it in a hurry.  Pure ADK.
Ithaca Gorges
Mohonk Mt House, very old school and a walk back in time.
Letchworth State Park

We have a very beautiful state!

Cape Vincent ...Tibbets Point Lighthouse. Sunsets or anytime. Henderson Harbor sunset behind Stoney Island.
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Niagara Falls, Letchworth are no-brainers that everyone knows, well worth seeing. I can speak to a few highlights in the eastern part of NY that I can recommend people travelling to from a few hours away.

Kaaterskill Falls in Green Co.

The drive on route 73 from I-87 to Lake Placid - the Adirondack high peaks area.

Lake Champlain - many miles of driving with lake views, quaint hamlets and ferry crossings to Vermont spring through fall

The drive along the west shore pf Lake George up route 9N.
The Ultimate Warrior is possessed with great power from the heavens above ! Against the mighty lake trout and pike and schools of crappie, the power of the WARRIOR will always ......... PREVAIL !!!
