quick strike rig
« on: Jan 06, 2008, 01:37 PM »
Ive done some research on these so I know what they are, but what size hooks do you use, and how do you rig the bait (minnows) on them?  This would be for pickerel, perch, and crappy.

Thank you,

the size quick strikes i use are for pickerel and larger. i make them with size 4 trebles and 20 pound mono or 8 pound mono.  all depends if I'm after pike or pickerel and bass

I'd say don't go large than a size 5 if you want a multi species quick strike

You can make smaller versions for Perch and Crappie by using size 10 trebles and mono or flouro for a leader.  I've also used a small treble for the head of the minnow and a small (#10) regular hook for the tail.  The bait swims better than having a treble in the tail.  Good luck.
Thanks, Dad, for taking the time to show me how to fish!!

I don't use quicks for pannies, seems too difficult. The bait is too small.
I use one small hook or a small treble for pannies.
Hook the minni in the dorsal/tail area.

If this is your target species, look at tip downs. They might work better for ya.
