Lightweight reel
« on: Nov 14, 2012, 09:47 PM »
Just picked a Thorne bros tripwire rod and am looking for a lightweight ultralight reel to match it. Any suggestions?

  • Ditch the bobbers and get a 'tight line'

Have you considered a straight line reel?  If you're fishing deeper water I would recommend a Pflueger president 6920 or 6720(old model).  Two of my tripwires have straight line reels and the other a president.

Shimano Sienna, Sedona or Sahara 500FD.All right at 6 oz. I have several of them and just put a Sedona 500 on my new Power Noodle.

I'm going to probably pick up the new 241 straight line.  I'd be super happy if quantum would have made the smoke or exo in n ultralight size

241 is far from light weight, played with it today at the store and wasn't in my top 25 of reels to buy....
