Lowrance Elite 7 Ice Conversion

Started a project this weekend to search the deeper waters for lakers and other species in the future. The Elite 7 comes with an ice mode along with gps for Champlain. Rather than spend another three hundred plus dollars I am using my boats.
What you need -
Lowrance Elite Series
HDS HDI CHRIP (any blue plug Lowrance device)

Eagle PTI-WBL Portable Transducer
-

Lowrance CA-8 Cigarette Plug Power Cable
-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OTORG0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(You can splice the cig adapter if you don't want it.)
OR
Lowrance Power Cable for HDS PC-30-RS422
-
http://www.amazon.com/Lowrance-Power-Cable-HDS-PC-30-RS422/dp/B002BBGOG0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422679787&sr=1-1&keywords=lowrance+power+cable&pebp=1422679821420&peasin=B002BBGOG0
+ a 5 gallon bucket and a battery pack. (You don't need links for that)
Its a rough idea, it will be fine tuned more. The unit can slip into the bucket with all the wires and closed for easy portability.
****Side note. The power cable that comes with the unit can be used, but it was installed in the boat already.

Nice man! Let us know how it works on the ice... One thing that might help and everyone who I have talked to has mentioned this, try to h the screen down where your rod tip will be so you can see both at the same time.

Good ideas 802.... I'm building my unit today for an Elite 5 Chirp. One quick suggestion- find something to go over the edges of the square you cut out for the ducer- they look a little sharp. What about car door edge guard or even heating them up to nearly burnt and rolling them smooth? Just a thought... Just don't want your cable to get marred up when it's hanging out in the hole...

I saw one guy who rigged it up so the elite-7 was inside the bucket with the screen facing up,made it easy to see in the bright sun

Just a blown up look of how it looks on the ice in 60ft of water.
