45 years old. Started around age 19.
Fished all years that we had ice but got away from it past five years. Going tomorrow with a rekindled interest!

Over 50 years, the first time I went was with boy scouts. I still have the first tipup that my bought for me.

35 years old, ice fishin since i was 7 or 8, my bros were younger. Out first time out was brutally cold, but my brothers and i have been hooked since!

Started right around 1965 when my dad first took me at the ripe age of 7, so about 54 years. I remember him building a fire on the ice and cutting all holes with a home made spud bar. Tip ups only back then and pickerel were the target.

I'm 62 and started fishing in 2nd grade. Sold all occasion cards ordered from the back of a comic book to my neighbors to get my first fishing rod. Never ice fished until I was in my first year of college and took a walk down to Lake Champlain one winter day. I couldn't believe how many perch those guys caught. I remember thinking I wouldn't want to clean so many fish. Been hooked to hard water ever since!

I'm 45 years old and started ice fishing when I was about 13 years old so I've been ice fishing for about 32 years give or take. I never knew anyone that ice fished growing up but I really wanted to try it after reading about it in an In-Fisherman magazine. I just showed up at local frozen lake one day in sneakers and had my six foot spinning rod and tackle box in hand. Didn't think about how to drill a hole but luckily there were some old open holes available. There were a half dozen old timers that got a good chuckle watching me. The first day and the next two were a fail for me but on the third or fourth trip (using the same open water gear) the old guys decided I was worthy and invited me to sit with them. I visited those guys a couple more times that season and they taught me some tips and techniques for ice fishing. I think I finally got a bite and caught a fish on my fifth outing.

Well I'm 32 and started at 4 so 28 years but die hard and cant wait to get on the ice since about 15

Started about 50 yrs ago. My first auger was like a big corkscrew. Had a tee handle on top. Don't know how we ever drilled anything with it but we did. Boy times have changed.

39 been fishing since 11 but this is number 4 on ice. I was scared to go for years but finally relented 4 years ago. I was hooked. Then my 2nd year no ice. So damn warm that year kissed me off. Last year got out on ice as much as I was able to. Doing the same this year.

I'm 35, been fishing since I was about 8, but only been ice fishing since about 2006 or so. Since I started ice fishing it seems like our winters have been getting shorter and shorter. Past 10 years I probably only get out 2 weekends per season.

Am 62, started at age 9, have fished every year we've had safe ice. Can remember my first jigging rod - the kind with the 2 thin wood dowels sticking out of a wood handle that you wrapped your line around, there was no reeling. For the first couple years my dad still used a spud bar and then we were tickled to acquire our first auger - a 6" "spoon" auger. Talk about a POS, not much better than the spud bar but we convinced ourselves it was. 50 years later I still have that thing hanging in my garage, just for sentimental reasons.

52 years old been ice fishing most of my life weather permitting had a few years when we didn’t get very good ice not much of a risk taker now than I am older
